Poets Corner - I Choose Peace
It has been a very long time since I put pen to paper and wrote a poem. There was a time in my life where that stuff flowed out of me at varying intervals, but that part of my creativity hasn't been activated in some time. It's unfortunate that this insomnia episode I'm working through was a catalyst, but creativity comes from many places - not just the bright sunny pretty ones.

I CHOOSE PEACE
Written by: Monica Stanley (2022)
I fall into sleep, with relative ease.
But the night wakes me,
as she does please.
Alone in my room, all is quiet and dark.
Why am I awake?
Oh, that's right, my heart.
Waiting for the next moment, when I can see his face again.
Those eyes, that smile,
those lips, that skin.
His scent is on my skin, it's intoxicating.
Memories of us connecting,
keep me waiting.
His mind, so witty.
His body, insane.
Playful.
Peaceful.
I'm here.
For him.
For me.
For all of it.
I choose peace.
